We trust these questions are of assistance to you as you consider Secondary School at The Lakes College for your child. Please note that lodging an application for Year 7 entry does not guarantee a place will be available.
How early do we need to lodge an application for Year 7?
Please register your child as early as possible. Applications are drawn from the waiting pool based on the criteria in our enrolment policy and one of these criteria is 'date of application'. Please note that as a P-12 school, vacancies in Year 7 are limited.
How many places are available in Year 7?
Availability of places in Year 7 is limited to the one additional class that commences in Year 7, plus any vacancies in the current Year 6 cohort. Interviews and offers are made based on projected vacancies.
As a Prep to Year 12 school, places are limited for Year 7 entry and currently, our Primary school is at capacity. We have already received a number of registrations for Year 7 in 2024 and beyond.
How do we register or enrol?
To be considered for any available places at The Lakes College, an enrolment application must be completed. Please register your child online and to avoid delays in the enrolment process provide all information required.
We're in the Waiting Pool. What happens next?
Once you submit an application for registration, your child's name is added to the waiting pool and you will receive notification from the Enrolments Office via email.
You will be contacted by email to commence the interview process for your child. Please ensure your contact details are kept up to date. You can email changes through at anytime to firstname.lastname@example.org. When invited to an interview, please book an interview by the requested date or let us know if you need an alternative time. You are always welcome to check on the progress of the waiting pool by emailing email@example.com.
We've had our Interview. What happens next?
Following on from your child's enrolment interview, a letter of offer may be made. This offer letter will be emailed to the email address provided. Please respond to your letter of offer, with the non-refundable $400.00 Confirmation Fee paid by the due date.
If you do not respond to your offer by the due date, your child's offer will be withdrawn and their name returned to the waiting pool. Due to the demand for places in Year 7 we are unable to extend offers.
We may also ask you for additional reports at your interview. To avoid delays in our enrolment process please provide these as soon as possible.
We've confirmed our spot. What happens now?
Once you've paid your confirmation fee and lodged your Family Enrolment Deposit, your child's enrolment is confirmed!
A great way to familiarise yourself with TLC is to visit us at one of our Enrolment Events.
Our child is nervous about starting at a new school as he doesn't know anyone. Can you help?
It is completely normal for children to feel anxious about starting at a new school. We encourage your child to attend one or both of our Experience Days and to attend as many of the Transition Events as possible. Your child will be allocated a buddy on the Experience Days. Coming to visit the College regularly will help your child to settle in to their new surroundings and also help them make new friends before the next school year commences.
If you are unable to make any of the Experience Days, we can arrange another time for your child to visit TLC.
