Sport is an integral part of life at TLC. There is a strong emphasis on personal fitness, participation and teamwork where students are encouraged to reach their full potential and contribute to a team.
At The Lakes College, we provide students with the opportunity to play a variety of sports in a healthy, respectful, safe and competitive environment. At times, there may also exist the opportunity to be involved in a participation based model of sport.
In all situations, it is our aim to involve students at a level of sport which is challenging, whilst also enabling students to experience enjoyment and success.
The College provides a sporting programme with opportunities at Club, Interhouse, Interschool and Representative level throughout the year.
We also have established teams in soccer, cricket and netball competitions. Soccer is managed through The Lakes Football Club and involves the largest number of students and parents through regular training and weekend competition through Federation Football. The College has also established a working relationship with Brisbane Roar who supports students and parents through coaching and training.
Netball and Cricket have been set up through the school with talented teachers taking teams to competitions either on Friday afternoon or on Saturday during the Summer months. Click here for further information about our affiliated sporting clubs.
Other sports available to students include tennis, swimming and a range of other physical activity offered through our extra-curricular and Active After School Communities Program.
The Lakes College is part of the Pine Rivers District Sporting Association and we participate in all District competitions including Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics. Students are invited to train for these events to improve their performance and hopefully earn a spot in our school team which then goes to the District events.
Students also have the opportunity to trial for various District Sporting teams throughout the year, some of whom have made it through to State representative duties.
The latest District Trial dates are available on the Pine Rivers Sport website.
The sports trials are held for students who have played the sports previously with proficient skills. Students who are interested in the trials will need to see Mr Clohesy to nominate by the date advertised and to collect forms and further information, including trial dates, times and locations. Unfortunately due to time restrictions, no nominations can be taken after the advertised date.
