Each year as Educators we see our young people grow in capacity, capability and courage and each year we look at our Year 12 graduates and remark on the outstanding young men and women they have become. 2021 is no different, although I suspect our students have gained in their Senior years a capacity to pivot with flexibility and without fear, a skill gained through COVID and one that will support them lifelong.
Seeing our cohort of Year 12 students depart from our community last Friday as fine young men and women, I am comforted that the world is in good hands. Together in partnership with our families, there is a knowing that the hard work of investing in their social and emotional development and encouraging academic and vocational learning pays off.
The Seniors of 2021 are a testimony to the partnership we share with our families. Thank you for this.
I would also like to thank the Senior Class of 2021 for their considered ‘Senior Gift’ to the College. The lectern is beautiful and your use of it as you signed the roll book for the last time was very special. This will serve future years well, enhancing a wonderful tradition of acknowledging our Graduates.
Anyone who knows Julie Parianos (EA to the Principal) well, will know of her deep love of two things Tennis and TLC (her children go without saying).
While I am deeply saddened to be saying farewell to Julie, I am excited to share with you that she has accepted the position of Executive Assistant to the CEO of Tennis Queensland. This was an unexpected opportunity that occurs once in a career and is one she could not let pass by.
Julie has been an extraordinary Executive Assistant, her professional demeanour, ability to balance competing interests and offer me her unconditional support and care has been the biggest blessing to me in my first year at TLC. Julie will be sorely missed by us all, but we know what a wonderful opportunity this is for her to stretch her remarkable skillset even further within the corporate world.
We thank Julie for her extraordinary commitment as an EA to both Simon and me, and by extension the Board Chairs over time. Her wonderful service to the Executive and the Board across the past 7 years has been testimony to her remarkable ability to navigate the grey areas of leaders lives to keep them looking their best.
Our congratulations, love and best wishes go with her.
In this our final Tidings for 2021, can I express my gratitude to The Lakes College Community yet again for your genuine embrace. On behalf of The Lakes College Executive and Board, I pray God’s blessing on you and your loved ones this Christmas Season, trusting you will have a safe, Holy and happy time of celebration. See you in 2022.
